Pull detail out of footage where it is present but buried: dark corners, hazy distances, backlit subjects. CLAHE equalizes brightness locally, so a dark foreground is not held down by a bright sky elsewhere in the frame.
Tiles and clip limit
Tile Grid sets how many tiles the frame is split into along each side. At 1 the whole frame shares one histogram; at 8 each tile covers an eighth of each side. Clip Limit caps the stretch; low values stay natural, high values look dramatic and bring noise up. Chroma restores color after equalization.
Per-frame equalization
Each frame is equalized on its own. Steady shots stay consistent; shots with large moving bright or dark objects shift slightly as they cross tiles. For dark noisy footage, denoise first with the video denoiser.
