Manga Screentone Video Effect

Settings are written to the URL as you change them. Nothing differs from the defaults yet.

Turn a clip into a moving manga page. Tones collapse into solid black, white, and screentone, and edges are inked back over the top.

Pattern

Dots give the classic screentone gray; Lines give speed-line hatching. Pattern Size sets the spacing. Contrast pushes shadows toward solid black; negative values open up the midtones.

Line art

Line Art Thickness controls the weight of the inked outlines. Heavy lines carry silhouettes through busy screens; light lines suit detailed backgrounds. Outlines are found again on every frame, so clean footage gives the steadiest ink.

Frequently Asked Questions

The printed dot sheets manga artists use to add gray. Here midtones become a dot pattern at a fixed angle, while shadows go solid black and highlights stay white.

It is the dot spacing in pixels on a frame with a 720 px short edge, scaled to the frame being processed, so a 1080p export has the same number of dots across as the preview.

The Lines pattern replaces the dots with parallel lines, the hatching manga uses for motion and tension.

It is copied into the export unchanged when the container can hold its codec, and re-encoded when it cannot. A note under the export button says which happened.
