Redraw a clip in colored pencil. Outlines turn into dark strokes, flat areas fade toward paper, and the original color comes back as pencil tint.

Detail and color

Pencil Detail sets the neighbourhood used to find strokes. Small values pick up hair and fabric; large values keep only major outlines. Color Retention decides how much of the source color survives, from gray pencil to saturated crayon.

Paper and stroke angle

Paper Texture adds directional line texture at the Stroke Angle. Angles between 30° and 60° read as hand shading; horizontal or vertical strokes look more mechanical. The texture is fixed, so on video it reads as paper, not as noise.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the drawing made?

Each frame's brightness is blurred and compared with the original through a color-dodge blend. Where the two differ, at edges, dark strokes remain; where they match, the frame brightens toward paper. Color Retention then mixes the source color back in.

Does the pencil texture move?

No. The stroke texture is laid out relative to the frame and stays in place, so the picture changes under a steady paper surface.

How is this different from the sketch video effect?

Sketch produces graphite shading with a texture that changes every frame. Colored pencil keeps the source color and a fixed stroke direction.

What happens to the audio?

It is copied into the export unchanged when the container can hold its codec, and re-encoded when it cannot. A note under the export button says which happened.
