Video Saturation

Settings are written to the URL as you change them. Nothing differs from the defaults yet.

Make a clip’s colors stronger or weaker. Saturation scales how far every color sits from gray; Vibrance favours the muted ones.

Saturation and vibrance

Saturation is neutral at 100%. Raise it for flat phone or log footage, lower it for a muted, cinematic look. Vibrance from -100 to 100 adds or removes color mostly where it is weakest. Mix blends the result with the original.

Skin tones

Skin carries a lot of red and orange and oversaturates quickly. For people-heavy footage, use Vibrance or the vibrance video tool, which also protects skin tones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Saturation scales every color by the same amount. Vibrance raises muted colors more than already strong ones, which avoids oversaturated skin and clipped reds.

From 0% (gray) to 500%. Above about 150% most footage clips its strongest colors and starts to look posterized.

Setting Saturation to 0% removes the color, but the black and white video converter gives better gray values with perceptual weighting and auto-contrast.

It is copied into the export unchanged when the container can hold its codec, and re-encoded when it cannot. A note under the export button says which happened.
