Shift every color in a clip around the color wheel. Skin, sky, and foliage all move by the same angle, which produces surreal palettes or quick color variants of the same footage.

Rotation

Small rotations of 10° to 30° warm or cool the palette without looking unnatural. Around 180° every color is replaced by its complement. Neutral grays are unaffected, so the picture’s contrast stays the same.

Changing one color

To recolor one object, such as a car or a jacket, while keeping everything else, use the color replace video tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a hue rotation do?

It moves every color the same number of degrees around the color wheel. At 120° reds become green, greens become blue, and blues become red. Grays, black, and white stay as they are.

Can I change only one color?

No. Hue rotation shifts every color. To change one color and leave the rest, use the color replace video tool.

What does Strength do?

It blends the rotated frame with the original, for a partial shift.

What happens to the audio?

It is copied into the export unchanged when the container can hold its codec, and re-encoded when it cannot. A note under the export button says which happened.
