Hue and brightness

Target Hue sets the color foliage becomes. Foliage Brightness makes plants glow against their surroundings. Sky Darkness lowers the lightness of blue areas, since skies reflect little infrared.

Footage that works

Sunny exteriors with plenty of foliage and open sky give the strongest result: parks, forests, hillsides, and gardens. Interiors and cityscapes with little green change mostly through the saturation setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do leaves turn bright?

Chlorophyll reflects a lot of infrared light, so foliage glows on infrared film; this is called the Wood effect. Foliage Brightness raises the lightness of detected greens to reproduce it.

Can the foliage be another color?

Yes. Target Hue sets the color that green foliage shifts to. Around 340° gives classic pink; other values give orange, red, or blue forests.

How is this different from the Aerochrome video effect?

This one sets foliage to one chosen hue and darkens skies. Aerochrome uses named film profiles and adds grain and red bloom.

What happens to the audio?

It is copied into the export unchanged when the container can hold its codec, and re-encoded when it cannot. A note under the export button says which happened.
