Flash and color

Flash raises midtones and highlights with the flat, frontal light of a built-in flash. Cool Grade pushes blue over red, the color of early digital sensors under mixed light.

Fringe, noise, and stamp

RGB Fringe offsets the color channels, like the cheap lenses of the time. Sensor noise changes every frame. Date Stamp draws a fixed orange date. For a film rather than digital look, use the disposable camera video effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the date stamp say?

A fixed orange 7-segment stamp in the bottom-right corner, in the style of a consumer digital camera. It stays in place for the whole clip; turn off Date Stamp to remove it.

Does the noise move?

Yes. The sensor noise is seeded from each frame's timestamp and changes 30 times per second of source time, like the noise of a small digital sensor.

Is RGB Fringe the same at every size?

Yes. The channel offset is proportional to the frame size, so the preview and every export show the same fringing.

What happens to the audio?

It is copied into the export unchanged when the container can hold its codec, and re-encoded when it cannot. A note under the export button says which happened.
