Shoot a clip through a plastic lens after the fact. Colors are pushed hard, shadows crush to black, and the corners fall into a dark, color-shifted vignette.

Color and shadows

Saturation pushes colors away from gray, up to double. Crushed Shadows darkens the lower half of the tone curve for the punchy, contrasty look of cross-processed film.

Corners

Corner Color Shift and Vignette act from the center outward, so the subject in the middle stays clean while the edges carry the flaws. Bright outdoor footage with color, such as beaches, streets, and festivals, suits the look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cheap plastic lenses cannot light the frame evenly, so the corners go dark and shift in color, and the film used with them pushed saturation. Lomography made the flaws a style.

It separates the red and blue response toward the edges of the frame, so the corners take on a color cast the center does not.

No. It is centered and fixed for the whole clip, like a real lens.

It is copied into the export unchanged when the container can hold its codec, and re-encoded when it cannot. A note under the export button says which happened.
