Spacing and refraction

Flute Spacing sets the rib width. Wide ribs give bold architectural stripes; narrow ribs turn the picture into fine vertical texture. Refraction Force sets how strongly each rib bends what lies behind it. Low force keeps shapes readable, high force breaks them into abstract bands.

Motion behind glass

Because the ribs stay still while the picture moves, horizontal motion is broken into a rhythm of reappearing slices. Soft, colorful footage such as city lights at night or a moving crowd makes the most convincing background loops.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the effect bend the picture?

Each rib is modelled as a curved lens. Pixels are displaced by the slope of the rib they fall under, so the image squeezes and stretches across every flute.

Is Flute Spacing in pixels?

It is scaled to the frame: the value is measured on a frame 1000 px on its short edge, so the rib count across the frame stays the same at every output size.

Does the glass move?

No. The ribs are fixed to the frame and the picture moves behind them, as when filming through a fluted window.

What happens to the audio?

It is copied into the export unchanged when the container can hold its codec, and re-encoded when it cannot. A note under the export button says which happened.
