Put clips together in order: a recording split across several files, an intro and an outro around a screen capture, or phone clips for one upload. Add the files, arrange them, pick a frame, and join.
Order the clips
Drop videos onto the dropzone or click to pick them. Each card shows the first frame, size, length, codec, and whether the clip has audio. Use the arrows to move a clip earlier or later; the number on the card is its place in the output.
A clip this browser cannot decode is marked on its card, and the join stays disabled until it is removed. HEVC and ProRes clips are the usual cases, depending on the browser.
One frame for every clip
A video file has one frame size, so clips that differ are fitted into it.
- Output size is the first clip’s frame by default, which suits a set of clips from one camera. Match the largest clip when the first is a small intro, or pick a fixed platform size.
- Fit keeps every clip’s full picture. A portrait phone clip in a 16:9 frame gets black bars at the sides.
- Fill scales the clip until it covers the frame and crops what overflows. Nothing is letterboxed, but the edges of mismatched clips are lost.
The resolution cap limits the frame’s long edge. Smaller clips are scaled up to the frame, so a 480p clip joined to 1080p footage looks softer than its neighbours.
Audio at the joins
All soundtracks are decoded and written as one track at the highest sample rate in the set (48 kHz for WebM), in stereo when any clip is stereo. Each clip’s audio is cut or padded to the length of its picture, so a clip whose soundtrack runs a little short cannot shift everything after it. A 5 ms fade at each seam stops the click two unrelated waveforms make when they meet.
Output format
MP4 uses H.264 video and AAC audio and opens in every player and editor. WebM uses VP9 and Opus and is smaller at the same quality, but QuickTime and some editors do not open it. The whole join is re-encoded at a high bitrate, so the export takes about as long as playing all the clips back to back.
