Apply analog camcorder damage
Drop in a JPEG, PNG, or WebP to mimic the specific degradation of magnetic tape and analog video signals. The tool generates procedural horizontal scanlines, tracking wobble, chroma bleed, and soft analog blur. It alters the structure of the image itself rather than just pasting a flat texture on top. Everything renders locally in the browser.
Signal softness and tape wear
Start by choosing a Color Grade to set the mood, from the warm tones of Home Camcorder to the eerie contrast of Security VHS. Effect Strength controls the overall intensity of the chroma bleed, softness, and color shift. Tape Wear introduces physical damage: tape grain, head-switching distortion, dropout streaks, and tracking noise. Increase the wear for a found-footage horror look, or lower it for gentle nostalgia.
On-screen camcorder overlay
Toggle the Camcorder Overlay to add the recognizable on-screen display of a 90s handheld camera. This renders the classic red recording dot, a flashing REC indicator, play/pause symbols, and a simulated battery meter. Turn the overlay off when you want the analog texture without the interface.
Refreshing tracking artifacts
Because the tracking noise and dropout streaks are generated procedurally, they fall in different places each time. If a damage band crosses an important part of a face or subject, use the Refresh Tape button to recalculate the noise pattern while keeping your current strength and wear settings.
