Chromatic Aberration Effect

Add optical color fringing

Drop in a JPEG, PNG, or WebP to mimic the specific degradation of a cheap or vintage camera lens. The tool shifts the individual color channels (red, green, blue) away from each other, simulating the failure of a lens to focus all colors to the same convergence point. Everything renders locally in the browser.

Radial distortion and uniform shifts

Start by choosing a Shift Mode. Radial pushes the colors outward toward the edges, which is the most realistic simulation of lens-based chromatic aberration. Horizontal and Vertical apply a uniform shift to the entire image, perfect for creating artificial, digital glitch aesthetics. Strength controls the overall intensity of the split.

Protecting the subject

If your subject is in the middle of the frame, use the Protected Center slider (available in Radial mode) to keep the core of the image sharp while letting the edges blur and fringe. This draws the eye to the center and simulates an extreme wide-angle lens defect.

Customizing the fringe

Use Fringe Colors to decide which channels are separated. Red / Cyan provides the classic retro 3D glasses look, Red / Blue creates a harsh analog fringe, and Green / Magenta offers a distinct, aggressive sci-fi color split.
